Supporting Mens Mental Health session 19 September 10-11
Rob and Dave from Dads and Lads will deliver an interactive session as part of Adult Learning week to talk about Men’s Mental health, how we can help and support in the community. Please attend to support the men in our lives.
Neurodiversity Awareness 24 September 9.30-12.30
This awareness raising session introduces the concept of neurodiversity and its significance in the workplace. Participants will explore the diverse ways in which brains function and process information, gaining insight into conditions such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and others. The course aims to foster empathy, challenge stereotypes, and promote inclusive practices that support neurodivergent individuals.
British Sign Language Taster Session 9 October 10-1
Course Overview: Introduction to British Sign Language (BSL), Communication and Deaf Awareness
This introductory course offers a foundational understanding of British Sign Language (BSL) and explores key aspects of communication and Deaf awareness. Participants will gain insight into the experiences of Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals, including the barriers they may face and the range of communication support options and technologies available to promote inclusion.
Course content includes:
- An introduction to Deaf culture and communication needs
- Overview of assistive technologies and communication support (e.g., hearing loops, BSL interpreters, speech-to-text apps)
- Basic BSL signs for:
- Greetings
- Asking and responding to “How are you?”
- The BSL alphabet
This course is ideal for anyone looking to build confidence in communicating inclusively and respectfully with Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals.
